The InCube 3 toilet building was installed in Gordon an urban suburb on the Upper North Shore of Sydney, located right next to Gordon train station on Wade Lane.
What they needed
Ku-Ring-Gai council came to Modus to find a toilet building to replace an existing toilet block that was old, worn down and non-compliant with many Australian Standards. They needed something that suited the urban environment with high foot traffic, was fully compliant with AS 1428.1 and that was highly durable able to last for years to come. Secondary to that was finding something that was aesthetically pleasing and that helped users feel safe and secure.
Designed with accessibility in mind
We successfully delivered our InCube 3, a more premium solution designed with urban cityscapes in mind. The building came with two standard ambulant rooms and one universal access room for people with high support needs, adhering to the AS 1428.1 requirements. This includes features like disabled handrails, an adult changing table, and a larger area for wheelchair access and mobility.
Strong and robust
The external walls were constructed with strong aluminium composite for durability and designed in grey to help match the urban surroundings and floor tiles. The interior featured durable interior fixtures, with every component selected for its resilience against the rigors of constant use by the train station. Lastly, the roof, outfitted with SolarSpan, offers a robust, insulated panel system that enhances energy efficiency and provides long-lasting protection against the elements.
Secure and private
To assist with privacy and security, a sharps disposal bin was included, allowing for the safe disposal of needles and other sharp objects. At the front of the building we included a durable perforated verandah screen designed to offer privacy from the outside while still allowing those inside to see out.
An outstanding result
The solution ensured an impressive outcome within the budget & deadline, in offering an aesthetically pleasing design that was robust and long lasting, secure and private and accessible for people with disabilities. Our collaboration was marked by ease and outstanding customer experience, ensuring satisfaction of all project delivery and community stakeholders. Whether needing to go before work in the morning or in between trains the facility allows for more enhanced and safer and more pleasing commutes.
