The InCube 3 toilet building was installed in Singleton, a busting country town on the banks of the Hunter River in New South Wales. Specifically, the toilet is located in Burdekin Park next to the Singleton Historical Society & Museum.

What they needed

Singleton council came to Modus to find a toilet building to replace an existing toilet block that was old, worn down and non-compliant with many Australian Standards. They needed something that suited the environment and reflected the local history and culture.

Designed with accessibility in mind

We successfully delivered our InCube 5, a more premium solution designed with bustling areas in mind. They wanted to ensure there were many rooms to help with crowds, especially during town events. The building came with two standard rooms, one ambulant room and one universal access room for people with high support needs, adhering to the AS 1428.1 requirements. This includes features like disabled handrails, an adult changing table, and a larger area for wheelchair access and mobility.

Representing history and culture

Budekin Park in Singleton has for long been a place to where Anzac and Remembrance Day ceremonies have been conducted. As a result, the back external panels include old photos taken when Anzac soldiers from Singleton marched down the main strip. Other images include other main events in the town such as floods and historical monuments. By using graphic panels in this way we were able to ensure that the toilet was not only accessible but able stand as a living monument that reflects the rich history and resilience of the community.

An outstanding result

The solution ensured an impressive outcome within the budget & deadline, in offering an aesthetically pleasing design that accurately represented the town's history and culture while also being secure and accessible for people with disabilities. Our collaboration was marked by ease and outstanding customer experience, ensuring satisfaction of all project delivery and community stakeholders. Since the toilet has been installed, the council has recieved a lot of positive feedback from the community.
