AS1428 compliant toilet building for sports clubs and community groups
Manningham City Council identified a need for AS1428 compliant restroom to be located at Zerbes Reserve Doncaster East.
Multiple sporting clubs and community group’s toilet building upgrade
Zerbes Reserve is used by multiple football and cricket clubs as well as local community scout groups and girl guides, a total of six different clubs and community groups are all based from Zerbes Reserve. The council considered the needs of the various sporting clubs and groups in addition to a kids play area with BBQ area when identifying where to locate the toilet facilities to best serve that public best throughout the year.
Toilet building integrated to CPTED design guidelines
Urban planners carefully considered CPTED guidelines when scoping out the landscape architecture of Zerbes Reserves surrounding environment, this ensured public safety was achieved through control of the natural environment. Public safety was achieved by including lighting for evening periods, clearing surrounding environment, excluding screening and possible out-of-sight hidden areas. The upgrade also included AS148 public parking with a wheelchair accessible path that included a clearway zone to allow unrestricted access.
Optimising available restroom facilities for public use
The design of the Yarra 2 Standard Toilet Building combined an AS1428 compliant restroom with a parent room, equipped with baby change table and an ambulant cubicle. Due to the diversity of demographic and range of use, the creation of a public restoom building with optimal purpose ensured that premium value was achieved from Manningham City Council's investment.
Sports club toilet building specification included:
- One unisex ambulant cubicle
- One unisex AS1428 cubicle with parent room
- Baby change table
- Stainless Steel toilet pan and hand wash basin
- Light sheets are standard but provide illumination during daylight hours
Adapting a toilet building is easy with Modus Australia, in particular reference to sporting clubs requirements to integrate showers, change rooms, kitchenette or canteens and sheltered areas for BBQ and picnic tables.
