Cape Keraudren | Capricorn 1 & 2
Remote coastal location includes new public toilet facilities with cyclonic rated structures and engineered to suit the isolated location.
Cyclone rated public restrooms for Cape Keraundren
This was one of two buildings placed in this isolated coastal reserve affectionately known as the ‘The Cape’. Despite its remoteness, this location is becoming an increasingly popular due to the new toilet facilities and other upgrades that have been done to the site. Both buildings comply with the universal access requirements and are engineered to the highest cyclone rating.
Located in Wind Region D, it has the highest cyclonic risk zone in the country with wind speeds up to 317 km/h. Despite repeated exposure to extreme weather, including Cyclone Zelia in February 2025, the Capricorn 1 and 2 toilet facilities have remained fully operational. Their continued performance highlights the strength of their cyclone-rated design and construction in one of Australia’s harshest coastal environments.
